Scotch Broom

Introduced by early European settlers as a garden shrub, Scotch Broom's vibrant yellow and red blossoms are undeniably beautiful. However, the hardy seeds designed to ensure the plant's future have proven to be its downfall. Distributed by birds, water, and even the sole of a hiking boot, Scotch Broom seeds have taken root in the wild, displacing native species. Sadly, it's prolific growth has earned it a place on the Pacific Northwest invasive species list.
