Flowing downstream from the abandoned mining town of Monte Cristo, this stretch of the Sauk River carves its way through dense forest that is rarely seen. For Sami and I, this day was an opportunity to bushwhack our way along the river's boulder-strewn path and soak up its peace and solitude.
