S Fork Sauk River

Down the River and Through the Woods

The Mountain Loop Highway follows several wild and scenic rivers to form a pathway through thousands of acres of wilderness and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. For hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts, it's a popular destination from early summer through late fall. During the winter months however, the road is closed transforming the area into a wintry retreat for those willing to brave up to 60" of snow and unpredictable  weather conditions.
