Pacific Trillium
Pacific Trillium, Western Trillium, Wake Robin, Harbinger of Spring - this lovely flower goes by many names, though none quite do justice to it's heavenly beauty. Not surprisingly, it's a member of the Lily family and is the first forest flower to bloom after snow melts in the spring. The blooms emerge white but turn pink with age, reaching maroon by summer's end. A trillium takes 7 years to recover if crushed by foot, so please treat this perennial native with extra care as you explore Washington's forests.
