Mallard Drake
Mallards are the most recognizable wild ducks in the Northern Hemisphere. The male mallard, known as a drake, sports a glossy green head and a white ring around his neck, but only during mating season in order to attract a mate. During this time, the drake can be seen dipping his bill in the water, as pictured here, then rearing up to give a whistle and a grunt to win over his lady.
