Giant Green Anemone

Giant Green Anemone

The old man of the sea, these vibrant creatures live up to 150 years in the wild, growing up to a foot in diameter. The green anemone's brilliant color derives from the algae living inside its tissues, which becomes more vibrant with increasing sunlight. Found in the tide pools and mussel beds of the Pacific Coast, we found this specimen during low tide at Rialto Beach.
