Whitehorse
Steep and imposing, Whitehorse can be seen for miles. The Coast Salish tribes named it So-bahli-ahli, "the lofty lady from the east". However, it was renamed in 1894 by the postmaster of Darrington, the small mountain town that lies at its base. He believed a snow patch on the 6000-foot face resembled the horse of a missing pioneer. Whatever the name, its beauty is undeniable.
