Blacktail Fawn

Blacktail Fawn

An early morning trek to Hurricane Ridge brought us face-to-face with this precious Blacktail fawn. These deer live in abundance in the Olympic National Park and have grown comfortable around humans due to the 3 million people that visit each year. Outside the park however, Blacktail deer are elusive, referred to as the "Ghost of the Pacific" due to their stealth ability to move unnoticed through the thick, old growth forests of the Pacific Northwest.
